Nail extensions/ False Nails:

Wearing false nails that are long and look like the claws of wild animals is something that has come to us from the kuffar. The teaching of Islam enjoins us to cut our nails and not let them grow long . ⁣

Abu Huraira reported: Five are the acts of fitra: circumcision, removing the pubes, clipping the moustache, cutting the nails, plucking the hair under the armpits. Sahih Muslim 257b

The Standing Committee for Scholarly Research and Issuing Fatwas stated :

“Whoever does not cut his nails is going against the fitrah. The reason behind this is cleanliness and hygiene, because dirt can gather under the nails. It also serves the purpose of making us different from those among the kuffaar who allow their nails to grow long, and from animals that have claws and talons.” { Fataawa al-Lajnah al-Daa’imah 5/173 }

They also stated : “It is not permissible to use artificial nails, false eyelashes …, because of the harm that they do where they are attached to the body, and because they also involve deception and changing the creation of Allaah.” { Fataawa al

-Lajnah ad Daimah 17/133 } ⁣
